I had pages of things I’d written to share this invitation to Japan, but it wasn’t quite right. So I scrapped it all and I’m sharing this instead.
Essentially, this is a trip I’m going to do anyway, whether anyone wants to come or not.
My contemplation was…”what would be at the heart of a trip like this?”
Sacred mountains where the Samurai walked. Mineral rich onsen experiences that nourish and calm the spirit.
Archery for its precision, focus, and tradition. Spending time with master blacksmiths who know how to fold steel in the old ways. Receiving authentic shiatsu massage and visiting Japanese temples from ages past. A bit of wandering. Just watching, listening, and paying attention to every foot step.
It also felt like this needed to be a men’s trip. I’ve been part of men’s retreats, men’s groups, and circles, and I’ve worked with thousands of men in the clinic as well. There is something special and unnamed that emerges when it’s just men. I know this happens for the feminine too. One is not better than the other, it’s just different.
This trip is for men to be themselves, to cultivate discipline, build bonds, and to take your turn.
Many men are holding a lot. Perhaps every man I’ve met holds much more than anyone knows. This is a trip you likely need but you may not know you need it. This adventure is taking a courageous leap into valor. It won’t be fluffy or filled with nonsense.
We are going to laugh though. It will have Type 1 and Type 2 fun. Ask me if you don’t know what that is.
I’m inviting between 8 to 12 men to join me on this trip. I have things to share. I have things to learn as well. I can’t promise who you will be after this trip, but I know you won’t be the same. Seeing patterns and helping shift those patterns is what I’m here for. I’m here to help the man I often see inside so many of you to actually come forward, to stop hiding what’s built into you, and to call that into form in a way befitting of a legend.

In the meantime, keep polishing the sword and be a warrior of the heart. Care for your mind, body, and spirit in a way that is honoring.
